Well, it’s hard to believe that our border collie Flint is now two years old. Time sure flies when you are having fun, and we are definitely having fun with Flint, thanks to Duke. Flint is a local dog, a Border Collie who was born and bred in Lot 16 and our daughter Maia was lucky enough to get first choice (the veritable pick of the litter) when the puppies were born. We were well warned in advance that Border Collies are very energetic and would demand a lot of training and attention, but this was not our first dog and we thought we were more than ready to face the challenge. I guess we were wrong. Flint’s herding instincts and strong personality soon had everyone on edge. His constant heel nipping, chewing and what seemed like bullying behavior were intimidating our 8 year old, not to mention the adults. There was no quit in him, and just when you thought he would be down for the night he would start up again. Finally we placed a call to Duke, and the next day had our first consult. Amazing… is the word to describe the change in Flint after applying the training techniques shown to us by Duke. Puppy Management was the answer we had been looking for. Almost immediately the heel nipping and aggressive behavior ceased, and soon after that there wasn’t even a hint of leash pull during our walks. For our family, the natural progression from Puppy Management was to Ultimate Obedience Training. Once again we learned skills that have made our relationship with Flint outstanding. We can take Flint anywhere and know that he will always be the best behaved dog. And it is pretty awesome for Flint too. He enjoys his morning walk unencumbered by his leash, and almost every day strangers take the time to tell us that he is the best behaved dog they have ever seen. He also enjoys fly fishing and although his technique isn’t very good he more than makes up for it with his enthusiasm.

This is our Saint Bernard Ginger. We got her when she was 6 weeks old.When we first started taking her out for walks she would grab our pant legs and just would not do anything that was asked of her. As she became bigger and more powerful it took my husband and I both just to walk her across the street to the park and even with the two of us holding her she was still able to drag us across the street. We were really thinking we might have to give her away to someone where she could run free on a farm because her behaviour was getting worse and worse and we could not walk her. On the days we would get her out for a walk one of us would come back with a bloody bitten arm where she would grab a hold of our sleeves and go through to our arm. We both have scars from it. Our last hope was to find a dog trainer but even then we thought it wouldn’t help her behaviour problems. We met with Duke and a few weeks later we went out to our first session. I still had doubts at this point.
I was so amazed at the results. I could not believe it was my dog just sitting there while another dog came into the room. Her usual response would be to tackle the dog and make the dog play with her. After we came back from the training center that same night I felt so confident with her that I actually took her for a walk downtown by myself. When we came back I had no blood running down my arm, no bite marks and I walked her without no trouble whatsoever. That was the first time in 3 months I was able to do that. I was so excited when I came home the first thing I did was email Duke with my new found freedom of being able to walk her by myself. We have been training since April 2009 and it has been like a miracle has taken place. She is well behaved now and I can actually let her off the leash in the park and she comes back when she is called. I cannot thank Duke and Nick enough for all there help. I would recommend training with Duke and Staff at Unleashed Potential K9 to anyone and everyone. Walking is such a pleasure now. She is happier since she can get out of the house and I am happier knowing I am in control with the training I received from Duke and his assistant.

Noble is a 1 yr old Great Dane, whom I had wishes to show.
His show career started off fantastic, then in a heartbeat he developed a fatal flaw that kept him from placing in shows anymore.
I could not find the key to correct this mistake. I contacted his breeder and other ‘show people’, I was offered lots of tips and advice, but nothing seemed to be working.
In a panic I contacted Duke and explained the problem to him – our next show was a week away.
Off to Unleashed Potential Training Center we went – Duke quickly assessed the problem and put us to work – with the help of Duke, Nick and some interesting homework I am thrilled to say that Noble took home 13 ribbons that next show including 4-BOS’s and a BOW!
Without Duke’s expert help and advice, Nobles show career would almost certainty have been over. Instead, we are looking forward to continuing showing him and earning more points towards his Titles.

Two more German Shepherds unleashed and enjoying life. Read this testimonial.
Luckily we found you guys recently. We needed help with our two German shepherds aged one and two. They each had their different share of problems and Ted individualized each dogs training based on their different personalities and needs. We had problems with both dogs barking in the car, pulling on the leash, charging the door when people would come to the door, leaving the yard and recall, just to name a few. With one of our dogs, there was a fear of large men other dogs. Ted showed us the proper techniques to use for all of our problems with both dogs and within one training session we noticed a massive improvement.

I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for all your help. When I came to you my 2 shih tzus (Tanner 6 and Cooper 2) were running my house. I was at my wits end!!! They barked constantly(especially when people came to the door), jumped all over people, pulled on the leash during walks, 1 had aggression issues and barked and nipped us when he wanted to play. Life at home was not pleasant at all.
You were my last hope for these dogs and I put off calling you because if it didn’t work the dogs probably had to go!! I had been to obedience class with my oldest dog Tanner and he graduated top of the class. He was perfect in class but when we got home he turned into a nightmare again. I also tried choke chains, prong collars and no pull harnesses… none worked and I felt horrible using them.
Then you arrived on my doorstep and changed our lives. Within the first 10 minutes the dogs had their collars on they were healing loose leash and staying while one of your dogs ran in front of them… I was amazed and even had a tear of relief in my eye.
It has now been 9 months since we started training and we have been doing great. We have had a few bumps along the way but each time I would e-mail you and most times within minutes you replied with a new idea for me to try or corrected what I was doing wrong. That to me is the best part. You are always there with ideas, support and help. The dogs and I love going to group class, it is so much fun!!
Now in the morning when I get the collars out both dogs are sitting at my feet with tails wagging. For anyone that thinks the collars are cruel, my dogs now get to go places they never could before, walk without coughing and gagging from pulling, enjoy having company instead of wanting to eat them, play outside off leash and get lots of exercise and are SO loved!! When we are put walking people constantly comment on what good dogs I have.
Duke, we are SO lucky to have you living in P.E.I. I have total faith in you and thank you from the bottom of my heart. To anyone thinking of training with Duke…. DO IT you won’t regret it!!!
